We did Parker’s newborn session at 3 wks old – and someone forgot to tell him that babies don’t usually sleep well during a session at that age! He was an absolute dream to photograph. He was awake when I arrived but had just been fed and once I got him in front of my magic space heater he gave up the fight and slept like a champ almost the whole session. Love when that happens!! Parker has the most awesome big brother who I couldn’t help but snap a couple of images of – and you’ll see why in just a minute. I wanted to take Jacob with me to some fabulous location and just take pictures to my hearts content. I think these two are going to be best buds – Jacob is so proud to be a big brother! I first photographed Charlie for his newborn session back in April and I was thrilled to go back and capture him once again – at 4 months this time! Talk about completely adorable – and so, so happy. I caught some of the best toothless grins ever from this little one. I was like putty in his hands for over an hour and could.not.stop hitting the shutter button because I didn’t want to miss a thing that he did.

And I love this one – trying to get the whole foot in his mouth!

And it begins…

His first day of kindergarten. I woke up this morning with that groggy feeling of “something is happening today – must get up”. As I sat up in bed it hit me that I was about to go wake up my kindergartner. As I went in to rouse him out of bed he put his head under the pillow and asked for more sleep time and I reminded him today was his first day of school and he was officially a kindergartner as of now. He had a big smile and said, “YAY!!!”. He was ready to get his new back pack on with his school supplies tucked inside. As I snuggled him for a little while I looked at those long legs that used to fit neatly into my arms, now long and gangly and reaching down to the floor almost when he sits on my lap. I told him how much he’s grown and he said, “Mommy, I won’t eat anymore so that I won’t grow and I can always be 5 and sit in your lap.” I assured him that Mommy’s lap will always be big enough to hold him – even if he’s 10, 16, or 33. You’re never to big to sit on Momma’s lap – I’m sure he won’t want to do that when he’s 33, but if he does, my arms will be open and my lap will be waiting.

Every newborn session I have is special to me and each baby is just as special. Little Benjamin is no exception and he happens to live next door to me. I get to see his sweet little face as he grows up and learns to hold his head up, sit up, walk – and I can’t wait! Benjamin is 3 weeks old which is older than my usual newborns but he had a rough start into the world and spent his first couple of weeks in the NICU. I know how grateful his parents are to have him home now so they can stare at him all day long. And be to honest – I could stare at him all day long too.

This smile just makes me happy!

Little Claire was 9 days old at her newborn session – and what a complete doll she is! I really could have bundled her up and brought her home with me – at least for one night. She is such a little snuggler and was a great little model for me as well. I shot their maternity shoot last month and was really looking forward to hanging out with Lacee and Brian again and seeing them in their new role as parents. They are completely smitten with their little princess as was I when I held her!

Ahhh – the beach!

We are on vacation this week and have spent time in Panama City, Fl, Opp, Al, and Auburn, Al! It’s been a lot of driving but also a lot of having fun and spending time together. I had grand plans to take pictures of Jack on the beach all dressed up in his nice(r) clothes but when it came down to it all he wanted to do was get buried up to his neck in the sand, throw the frisbee all day long, and just PLAY! So…I scrapped my plans for the beach shoot and just took pictures of him having fun – which is what vacation is all about!

Meet Lacee and the cutest belly bump around right now!! We met up this past weekend to capture some maternity images for them and I was thrilled to get a few of them with their black lab! My almost non-existent whistling skills helped out a bit but overall he’s just a sweet puppy! I bet he’s going to be a great doggie brother when baby girl arrives in just a few weeks. I’m already wondering how we can capture the two of them together!!

Beautiful little 7 day old Ellington was a dream newborn! She slept so well for me and barely put a up a fuss when I moved her all around and propped her up. I never tire of tiny toes and fingers and lips and the sweet smell of babies. There was beautiful light coming in through the windows for this session and it made me just want to jump up and down with joy the way it was softly falling on her sweet little face and illuminating every little nuance of Ellington. Check out this little beauty!

Watching Ethan grow since his newborn session has been an absolute joy. Every three months there is something new, something even cuter than the last time (if that’s even possible with this little guy!), and this time was no exception. When I photographed him at 6 months he was still a little bald in the hair department and this time he has the most adorable blond, blond, blond fuzzy hair that sticks up and defies gravity. He’s standing up on his own now and gives the most precious little scrunched up face. One day I’m going to just load him in my car and bring him home! I’m already looking forward to his one year session!!
